Hiroshima, Japan

Let all the souls here rest in peace
For we shall not repeat this evil.

Hiroshima is a story of survival and peace. This site of the most devastating weapon of war is testament to both the repercussions of imperialist war mongering and to a commitment to peace and eradication of nuclear weapons. We visited the Peace Memorial Park, which was the ground zero for the atomic blast. It’s amazing that several buildings survived the blast, as well as some trees which stand today in the park.

We also visited beautiful Shukkeien Garden, which began in 1620 and was restored to its original design after 1945.  It incorporates all the features of a traditional Japanese garden.
