Temples in Thailand

We are docked at Laem Chabang, a large port three hours from Bangkok. Yesterday was a long 10-hour day, driving to the ancient capital of Thailand, Ayutthaya. The Royal Summer Palace is here and quite beautiful , as well as ruins of the original Thai capital. The hit of the day was the elephant ride. Our elephant became a bit temperamental during the ride which led the mahoot to a few minutes of disciplinary time. Quite exciting.

  1. You guys should get your own elephant! I can see you in your back yard with it! Maybe you can dismiss the gardener if they eat enough grass!

  2. I rode an elephant years ago at the Los Angeles Zoo. I don't think they have that ride today. It was not in a chair--I could feel the elephant's spine as he walked. His bones against my bones did not make for a comfortable ride.
